Just in time for spring

I could have really used some gloves in the last few weeks, but just as I finish these, it's getting freakishly warm again. Oh well. They will come in useful for working late nights at my computer staring at numbers. My mouse-hand always gets very cold. Yippie.

This knitting thing is getting worryingly obsessive. I'm thinking I should really keep it to sundays or something. I just need to get out more.
I realised the other day that I hadn't really had a conversation with anyone for a few days, especially no one female, so I decided to go along to the Maths Women's lunch. It wasn't quite what I was hoping for as the conversation was limited to childbirth and epidurals. Excellent.

Oh, you pretty things

Last week was my best friends birthday and I totally forgot to get her a present or even a card (I did ring her though so I'm not that bad). So, as I was already going to be hopelessly late, I thought I'd better get her something really nice and decided to make her some gloves. I couldn't muster up the patience for 5 fingers in the end, but I think the result is very respectable and I really want to make some for myself too. Maybe I'll even write up the pattern!

I really like the colours, I believe they're what they call "jewel colours" in the magazines. It's nice wool too, Patons diploma gold (55% wool and very soft!), which is really cheap as well.
The lace pattern is nicked from here and the picot edge and thumb shaping adapted from somewhere on knitty.
I really hope she'll like them!

My god, the excitement!

So the first ever Cafe Kino Stitch n Bitch went extremely well - There were around 15 people there, hardly any of whom I knew personally. So I was very pleased, but in fact too excited about it all to really get any knitting done. I did one finger of my glove, but had to redo it because it was too tight.

No prize, but kudos, if you manage to spot Jen the Xtreme Knitter in the picture!
